June, 2019 Reviews are in for “Or What She Will” at Hangar Theatre!

Syracuse.com:  [The role of Aphra Behn is] ” expertly and energetically played by Emily Kunkel. Kunkel is pure joy to watch as she romps about the three-quarter round, floor-level Hangar stage, having entered from half-way up a section of the audience and launches into at least a 10-minute monologue, breaking the sacred fourth wall, to toy with the audience and shower us with information about what we are about to witness on the stage. The segment is easily one of the highlights of the production.”

Ithaca.com  “The temporal fusion works because Emily Kunkel’s Aphra, at the squall’s center, is so splendidly persuasive. (Curiously, Kunkel rather resembles Aphra as seen in paintings.) Kunkel epitomizes resourcefulness and wit; Adams’ clever rhymed couplets roll trippingly off her tongue; her diction is exquisite. Her Aphra Behn is a liberated libertine, a working woman with class: independent, free-loving, and dedicated to her craft.”

May-June, 2018 Emily and Hook and Eye Theatre head into a three week run of SHE SHE SHE and the reviews are IN! Brandon Webster of The Theatre Times writes SHE-SHE-SHE is, in its most reduced form, a great example of more-than-capable actors flexing a broad set of skills as they double and triple vastly different roles to help fill out an expansive story. It is Emily Kunkel, however, whose understated and hilarious performance as Jolene (a midwestern woman from a large family who just wants to be alone) regularly steals the show and reengages the audience.”  (photo by Al Foote)
